will be making a joint appearance at
The Road
Ahead 2012 transportation summit with
the theme of
Connecting
Livable Communities. The Road Ahead is
sponsored by
Transportation Solutions, a
Transportation Management Association representing the
southeast Denver metro area.
Metro Denver Chamber of Commerce President and CEO
Kelly J. Brough and Aurora Chamber of Commerce
President and CEO Kevin Hougen will then respond
with an interactive panel discussion about the
importance of local cooperation and the involvement of
the private sector in connecting livable communities
within the Denver region. Confirmed attendees include
over 120 city and state elected officials,
transportation industry professionals, planners and
business representatives.

Mile High Connects
Mile High Connects (a partnership of foundations,
funders and non-profits working to ensure our region's
transit system improves the quality of life for all
residents) is hosting a FREE half-day event at the
Denver Art Museum. The event will also serve as the
official release of the regional
Equity
Atlas, a visual representation of the
opportunities and challenges created by the transit
system expansion, including chapters on demographics,
housing, jobs, education, and health.
Join Mile High Connects on
April
10th, 8 AM-12 noon for a morning of
national speakers and local respondents. This half day
event will bring together elected officials, community
leaders, business, transit, planning, development and
other professionals to explore the many opportunities
and challenges that transit affords the Denver Metro
Region.
Mile High Connects is a unique partnership of local and
national philanthropic partners, private sector partners
and four nonprofit organizations working collaboratively
to ensure the
Metro
Denver regional transit system fosters
communities that offer all residents the opportunity for
a high quality of life.

Dr. Manual Pastor - University of Southern California
A professor of Geography and American Studies &
Ethnicity Pastor serves as Director of USC's Program for
Environmental and Regional Equity. Pastor is a leader
in research focused on the economic, environmental and
social conditions facing low-income urban communities in
the U.S.
Shelley Poticha - Director for Office of Sustainable
Housing and Communities at the U.S. Department of
Housing and Urban Development (HUD)
A well respected expert in growth management and urban
policy Poticha is responsible for advancing housing and
communities that promote affordable, livable and
sustainable living environments.
